Project 3 Reflection Blog

While writing my multi-modal web text I tried to think of a topic that was connected to my previous projects. By my third project on homes, I was exhausted on the subject. SO I searched for a specific type of home. At first I brainstormed and tried to think of different types of homes (Log homes, glass homes, and environmentally friendly homes). Because I needed to pick a broad topic that contained enough information to do a podcast and a web text I picked eco-friendly homes. My audience was anyone that was interested in knowing more about environmentally friendly lifestyles. My purpose was to create a web page that was like an all in one stop, where people searching for information on eco-friendly homes could also find information on other aspects of eco-friendly living.
The design of my multi-modal web text revolves around going green. I created a green background. The pictures that I implemented throughout the page were designed to create a visual image of difficult concepts. I organized the page in such a way that people can easily access supporting sites. On the left side of the page there is a bar that separates the actual web text from my supporting sources and recommended readings.
If I had some more technical knowledge, I would have put a video in my project. I seen a couple other people do it, and it looked awesome, and quite professional.
There were so many supporting links to choose from on maintaining a green lifestyle. Although I am happy with the abundance of resources, it often got me sidetracked from my original topic.
Some major obstacles that I had to overcome were that I had too much information. I had a hard time staying on topic and that made me have writers block. I was filled with confusion. My conference with Crystal got me through it, and she gave me words of encouragement to progress to the end.

MM Web Text Progress

I have had such a hard time narrowing this project down to a specific topic. Although I have my 1,000 word draft done, I need to make major changes to it. I know that Crystal will guide me in the right direction tommorrow to help me out.

Update on Podcast Slideshow

My first draft of my podcast slideshow is finished. I need to add my last citation to it though. We'll see how the conferences go, so I know what revisions to make.

Multi-modal Web Text (The Begining)

This has been tough... I erased all of my information this morning and now I am starting all over from scratch. My topic is eco-friendly homes. It is such a broad topic that I have been having a hard time focusing on what to write about. There are too many aspects of an eco-friendly home to write about. Frankly, I am sick of writing about homes. But since this is my last paper to do on them, I'll write it with a smile on my face! Anyways, I started writing about how people are striving to go green. Then I advised people on the green movement. Then I started talking about why it's important to go green. Then I started writing about how homeowners should cut back on household energy, water and material consumption.I need to figure out how I am going to do this paper. I am frustrated.. I am going to attempt to do it tonight again.

Podcast Information

My podcast has been quite an adventure. I know from my last podcast that I am not good at makind them. So I had a lot of writers block. My original topic that I chose in class was environmentally friendly interior design. Well... I found out that my topic was too broad as I started to create it. I had so much information to write about that I knew the outcome would be one of two things. Either long and boring or over the time limit by 5 minutes. So I have decided to narrow my original topic down to eco-friendly textiles that you can use while decorating a home. Now my podcast is ready to be created.

podcast reflection

My podcast was a huge success to me. I did my best, so hopefully I will get an A for effort!! At first, I was totally overwhelmed with the whole thing. Since everyone got bad grades on the first assignment, I was especially nervous about this one. I didn't realize until today though that I forgot to post my references. UHH. I was so focused on my podcast and how it sounded that it slipped my mind. I will see how it gets graded though!?!?
